We had a great trip on the Gates of Lodore section of the Green River, and my S14 was a blast! We launched with flows at 6700 which was expected to be the highest release level this year. We dropped into a big hole in Disaster Falls which surfed us, spun us 180 degrees and sucked the bow person in up to her hips before spitting us out. Hell's Half Mile was easy to run at these high flows. We ran the right side of the middle tongue clean as a whistle, and the huge waves in Moonshine were a kick in pants but we never felt unstable. We were the only SOAR on the trip but our other group members kept commenting that we looked like we were having too much fun (and we were). My bow person was a novice paddler but the S14 handled beautifully of course. Ilona Karow, Chico CA |
